Mrs Nitya Pathak, the Executive Convener of Sulabh International, was honoured with the National Bravery Award at a grand event held at the Press Club of India to commemorate Martyrs’ Day. The event was organized by the Padma Vibhushan Aditya Nath Jha Memorial Trust and featured a discussion session recognizing individuals who have demonstrated exceptional courage and dedication to the nation.
The award was presented by Honourable former Union Minister of State, Mr Ashwini Kumar Choubey.
Other distinguished awardees included:
- Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain (Honorary) Yogendra Singh Yadav
- IPS officer and Special Commissioner of Police, Mr Devesh Chandra Srivastava
- Dr Dharm Pal Bhardwaj, three-time President’s Medal recipient and former Chief of Delhi Fire Services
The event was also attended by Honourable Union Minister of State, Mr Ramdas Athawale and Honourable former Union Minister of State, Mr Ashwini Kumar Choubey, who paid tribute to the martyrs.
In her address, Mrs Pathak highlighted the significance of the day, recalling the sacrifices of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru. She stated:
“Our martyrs gave their lives for the nation. Can we also contribute, even in a small way, towards our country?”
She encouraged everyone to take a pledge to contribute meaningfully to society.
Highlighting the contributions of Sulabh International, Mrs Pathak mentioned the organization’s efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly the distribution of free food packets to the underprivileged.
She also called upon the youth to nurture a spirit of patriotism and actively engage in social service.
Speaking on the occasion, Honourable former Union Minister of State, Mr Ashwini Kumar Choubey appreciated the contributions of Dr Bindeshwar Pathak in the field of sanitation and noted that Mrs Nitya Pathak is carrying forward his legacy with great dedication.
Mrs Pathak also extended her heartfelt gratitude to the office bearers of the Padma Vibhushan Aditya Nath Jha Memorial Trust—especially Mr Rakesh Kumar Singh, Dr Bharat Jha, Mrs Parul Singh, Mr Jatin Rana, and all the organizers—for successfully conducting the event.
