Sulabh International was honoured with the Global Excellence Award 2026 by the Energy and Environment Foundation for its outstanding contribution to the waste management sector. The award was presented during the Energy and Environment Foundation Global Excellence Awards 2026, held as part of the 6th World Waste-to-Wealth Summit & Expo at the NDMC Convention Centre, New Delhi.
The award was received by Mr. Kumar Dilip, President, Sulabh International, in recognition of the organisation’s pioneering work in sanitation, sustainable waste management, environmental stewardship, and the promotion of circular economy solutions.
Presenting the award, Mr. Anil Razdan, Chairman of the Energy and Environment Foundation and former Secretary, Ministry of Power, Government of India, reflected on the visionary legacy of Dr Bindeshwar Pathak. He observed that lasting social transformation begins with changing mindsets and highlighted Japan’s culture of dignity of labour, where children participate in cleaning their own schools and toilets. He expressed hope that India would embrace similar values to help eliminate the stigma associated with sanitation work.
Accepting the award, Mr. Kumar Dilip dedicated the honour to Dr Bindeshwar Pathak, whose pioneering work transformed sanitation into a movement for public health, environmental sustainability, social justice, and human dignity. He reaffirmed Sulabh’s commitment to advancing this legacy through innovations in sanitation, the circular economy, menstrual hygiene management, environmental health, food security, and community-led development.
The ceremony was also attended by Mr. A. K. Balyan, Former Managing Director, Petronet LNG, and Chairman & Director, Carmine Energy Pte. Ltd., Singapore; Dr Anil K. Garg, President, World Water Summit and World Waste-to-Wealth Summit; and Mrs. Ragini Garg, Chairperson, RAGA Integrated Technology Management Services Pvt. Ltd.
The recognition reaffirms Sulabh International’s enduring commitment to developing innovative and sustainable solutions that improve public health, protect the environment, and create lasting social impact.
