Sulabh International marked Swachhotsav 2025 in New Delhi with a vibrant celebration that brought together students, NCC cadets, youth groups, and NGO activists. The day began with a soulful band performance followed by poetry recitations that emphasized cleanliness as culture, heritage, and shared responsibility. The highlight of the event was the cutting of a 75 kg ladoo, a tradition started in 2014 by Dr Bindeshwar Pathak, Founder of Sulabh International, to honour the birthday of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. For the past 10 years, this ritual has symbolized more than sweetness — it has carried a nationwide message of cleanliness and dignity.
India is a country of celebrations. Every festival carries meaning. This ladoo reminds us: it is time to celebrate cleanliness.
This celebration was not just a Sulabh event but also part of the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign, observed every year from 17 September, the Prime Minister’s birthday, to 2 October, Gandhi Jayanti. Under this government-led initiative, institutions and citizens across India reaffirm their commitment to Swachhata as a people’s movement.
Reflecting this spirit, Sulabh’s vast network of volunteers organized cleanliness drives at 75 locations nationwide, symbolically marking the Prime Minister’s 75th birthday and reinforcing the message that cleanliness is everyone’s responsibility.
Addressing the gathering, Sulabh International’s President, Shri Kumar Dilip, said:
“Guided by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji and inspired by the legacy of our Founder Dr Bindeshwar Pathak Ji, Sulabh International is mobilizing millions across India to make cleanliness a true people’s movement. This year, as we celebrate Swachhotsav in 75 locations nationwide, our message is clear: cleanliness is everyone’s responsibility — and the foundation of a developed India.”
As the 9th edition of Swachhata Hi Seva unfolds, Swachhotsav 2025 stands as a powerful reminder that cleanliness is not a task, but a celebration and a collective duty.
