Sulabh International, in collaboration with IIHH EIACP Resource Partner and under the aegis of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India, successfully organized a vibrant and impactful awareness event under the national campaign “Clean Air for Blue Skies – Breath of Change”. Held on Friday, 11th July 2025, at the bustling Mundka Market and Metro Station in Delhi, the event served as a creative public engagement initiative to sensitize citizens on the urgent issue of air pollution and the need for collective climate action.
The Breath of Change Campaign: A Public Call to Action
The event was part of a larger, three-month strategic communication campaign jointly launched by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to tackle air pollution in Delhi-NCR. Titled “The Breath of Change”, the campaign is being implemented through Delhi-based EIACP Centres—including Sulabh-IIHH, TERI, SPA, JNU, and WWF—with CMS VATAVARAN as the official media outreach partner. Running from July to September 2025, it complements scientific and regulatory efforts with youth-led actions, citizen-driven initiatives, and mass media outreach.
The campaign will culminate on September 7, 2025, with a national film festival aligned with the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies.
Mundka Event: A Creative Community-Led Intervention
As part of a series of awareness drives at air pollution hotspots across Delhi, the Mundka event marked Sulabh’s third major intervention. Over 2,000 individuals—including metro commuters, vendors, students, and residents—were reached through a wide range of creative and educational activities.
Students of the Sulabh Training Centre delivered a spirited dance performance, followed by a high-energy flash mob that instantly drew the attention of commuters and passersby. These performances served not only as entertainment, but also as a visual and emotional call to action on clean air.
Street plays and soulful musical renditions, all themed around air pollution and climate action, made complex environmental issues accessible and emotionally resonant for a wide audience.
Throughout the day, interactive sensitization sessions addressed everyday air quality concerns and encouraged simple lifestyle changes to reduce pollution. The involvement of students, teachers, and the principal from Shikshaitan Industrial Training Institute, Mundka, underscored the central role of educational institutions in youth-led environmental advocacy.
A march past through Mundka Market further amplified visibility, as participants held placards with strong messages promoting sustainable living. Informative posters and educational displays enriched public knowledge, while a cheerful selfie booth enabled attendees to express solidarity and spread the campaign’s message across social media.
