Sulabh International Social Service Organisation is proud to announce that it will host the World Toilet Summit (WTS) in New Delhi from November 19 to 21, 2025, coinciding with the United Nations-designated World Toilet Day.
The decision to hold the landmark summit in India follows a recent meeting between Mr Jack Sim, Founder of the World Toilet Organization, and Mr Kumar Dilip, President of Sulabh International.
For over two decades, World Toilet Day has served as a global call to action—raising awareness of the sanitation crisis and promoting safe, inclusive, and sustainable sanitation systems. The 2025 edition holds special significance, arriving just five years before the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) deadline. The Summit will offer a timely platform to:
- Review global progress on SDG 6 (Clean Water & Sanitation)
- Exchange innovations and success stories
- Strengthen South-South cooperation
- Address future urban sanitation challenges
India’s remarkable journey under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan will be a central focus. Launched in 2014, the campaign led to the construction of over 110 million toilets and transformed sanitation access across the country. This unprecedented achievement stands as a model of political will, grassroots mobilization, and community-led innovation.
The 25th World Toilet Summit will highlight how countries in the Global South can develop scalable, low-cost solutions rooted in local knowledge and leadership. Moving beyond rural sanitation, the summit will explore urban sustainability, technological innovation, and the path to self-reliance in sanitation systems.
With policymakers, experts, development partners, NGOs, and changemakers from around the world expected to attend, WTS 2025 in Delhi is poised to be a defining moment in the global sanitation movement.
