Sulabh International Social Service Organisation is excited to announce the opening of its newest gallery, “Toilet Tales,” at the Sulabh Campus in New Delhi. This unique exhibition, now open for public viewing, adds a significant new dimension to the renowned Sulabh International Museum of Toilets.
Toilet Tales- Pits to Plumbing …
The gallery traces the evolution of sanitation in Britain from the early 1800s to the early 1900s—an era that reshaped hygiene, public health, and daily life. Featuring original fixtures from Victorian and Edwardian England, including ornate water closets, cisterns, chamber pots, bathtubs, signage, and personal hygiene items, the exhibition offers an intimate look at how toilets and plumbing became central to modern living.
Beyond design and engineering, the gallery also highlights the social movements, public health reforms, and gender and class dynamics that shaped sanitation history. Through its curated collection, “Toilet Tales” presents toilets not just as functional objects but as storytellers of changing culture, dignity, and societal progress.
The gallery is now open to all visitors, inviting everyone to explore this remarkable journey of innovation, design, and human ingenuity.
