On June 5, 2025, World Environment Day, Sulabh International, in collaboration with the Sulabh International Institute of Health and Hygiene (IIHH) – Environmental Information, Awareness, Capacity Building and Livelihood Programme (EIACP), supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), concluded a week long public awareness campaign that began on May 29.
The campaign culminated in a large-scale outreach event at Dwarka Mor metro station, one of Delhi’s identified air pollution hotspots. The activities were aligned with the Ministry’s official World Environment Day 2025 slogan: “One Nation, One Mission, End Plastic Pollution”—a message that served as the guiding theme throughout the campaign.
Focusing on the urgent need to reduce single-use plastics and adopt sustainable alternatives, the campaign sought to educate the public on the harmful link between plastic use, air pollution, and broader environmental degradation.
In the days leading up to June 5, Sulabh-IIHH EIACP organized a series of awareness activities at various institutions and public spaces across Delhi, including Saraswati ITI (Dwarka), Sarvodaya Vidyalaya (Jor Bagh), Shikshaitan ITI (Mundka), and the National Zoological Park. These included educational sessions, drawing competitions, community outreach efforts, posters, reels, and online content—all emphasizing the campaign message.
At the final event held at Dwarka Mor metro station, Sulabh volunteers actively engaged with hundreds of people—commuters, e-rickshaw drivers, local vendors, and passersby—through the distribution of flyers, interactive discussions, and on-the-spot interviews. Given the area’s high footfall and dense commercial activity, the site provided a dynamic platform for direct public engagement.
What stood out during these interactions was the growing awareness and participation of the general public. Many individuals expressed appreciation for the initiative and shared steps they have already taken to reduce plastic use in their daily lives.
Senior officials and staff from Sulabh and IIHH-EIACP were present throughout the campaign and at the closing event, underscoring their continued commitment to grassroots environmental action in support of the Ministry’s mission to end plastic pollution across the nation.
