The widows from Varanasi and Vrindavan tied handmade rakhis to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, on Saturday, 29th August, 2015.

The widows started preparing rakhi about a fortnight back in Vrindavan, and prepared around 1,000 rakhis in Meera Sahabhagi and Chetan Vihar ashrams of Vrindavan, Sulabh International which is taking care of hundreds of widows in Varanasi and Vrindavan. Last year too they had sent rakhis to the PM on the festival of Rakshabandhan. A 90-year-old widow, Manu Maan, along with four others had visited PM’s house last year to tie rakhi.
