BHUBANESWAR: The Housing and Urban Development Department on Monday notified the nomination of Sulabh International for the hybrid toilet project under AMRUT scheme.
The organisation has been entrusted with design, build, operation, maintenance and transfer (DBOMT) of 5957 hybrid toilets in nine AMRUT cities – Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Rourkela, Puri, Balasore, Bhadrak and Baripada.
The complexes in these urban localities will have 5/7/10 toilet seats, urinals and washrooms for public and community use. The Department has estimated an approximate cost of `23 lakh for a complex with 10 toilet seats.
Funds will be released by the State Government in five phases. Ten per cent of the estimated cost after technical sanction, 20 per cent when construction reaches plinth level, 20 per cent of payment up to lintel level, 20 per cent payment after roof is cast and remaining 30 per cent will be paid after completion of the toilet complexes.
The toilet complexes have to be completed within six months from the date of issue of work order by the urban local body (ULB) concerned. The ULB can decide the provision for levy of penalty in case of delay of work beyond the scheduled time incorporated in the contract.
Sulabh will maintain the toilet on pay and use basis for public at marginal cost which will be decided by the ULBs in consultation with community representatives.
